SUNY Corning Volleyball Improves to 11-3 Regionally

The volleyball team traveled to Tompkins Cortland Community College this past weekend where they faced Jamestown CC, Erie CC, and Niagara CCC. After a well-fought five-set first match against Jamestown resulted in a loss (25-15, 28-30, 17-25, 28-26, 7-15), Corning defeated Erie (25-15, 25-18, 25-15) and Niagara (25-10, 25-16, 25-17).

The Red Barons improve to an 11-3 regional record after the weekend. Offensively the attacks were spread out among several Barons. Autumn Edwards led the charge for Corning with 17 kills and 6 blocks. Teammate, Emilie Cole added 15 kills and 4 blocks of her own while Alecia McKillip went for 13 kills, while Megan Brown and Maddie Gorges each added 11 on the day. Defensively, Emily Saltsman dug up 39 balls, while Cole and McKillip added 26 and 27 digs respectively. Setter, Gorges totalled 71 assists on the day while also serving up 8 aces behind the line.

Corning hosts Cayuga Community College this Wednesday for their MSAC conference match up. Game time is 6pm.
