Offense Catches Fire; Red Barons Win Two

The Red Barons women's soccer team played two homes games on Labor Day weekend and they used those games to get their offense going in a big way.

In Saturday's game against visiting North Country CC, the team scored 5 goals on the day in a 5-4 win. Kerene Johnson provided plenty of offense as she scored 4 goals including two strikes well outside the 18 yard box. Taylor Sutryk scored a goal and she was responsible for facilitating the Red Barons attack all game. Carleigh Wallace had a strong performance as a holding mid-fielder who impacted the game offensively and defensively.

On Sunday, the team started right where they left off Saturday, as they scored 10 goals in a shut out victory over Clinton CC. Kerene Johnson and Taylor Sutryk both had hat tricks while Carleigh Wallace handed out 3 assist on the day. Danielle Dennis, Laura Kercher, Kirsten Covey, and Samantha Castaneda each produced a goal for the team as well. Hunter Erway and Taylor Sutryk each had an assist in the game. Bailey McGannon posted her first collegiate shut-out.

The Red Barons suit up tomorrow Wednesday, September 5th at Genesee CC at 3 pm.
