Mike Wright spent 8 years as the head coach of the women's basketball program, Coach Wright accumulated a 79-84 coaching record before transitioning to the assistant coaching role in 2023. Coach Wright joined the Red Baron family in 2015 when he was hired as Head Coach of the women’s basketball program. Wright has an extensive coaching background that includes volleyball, soccer, and softball in addition to basketball. Prior to Corning, he coached the Campbell girl’s basketball team from 1984-1988 before becoming the Campbell and Campbell-Savona boy’s basketball coach from 1988-2004. Wright led Campbell-Savona to six Section V finalist appearances in boy’s basketball as well as the program’s first ever sectional title in 2004. His teams there won numerous league and division championships and many achieved the academic honor of being named NYS Scholar Athlete teams. Wright also coached the Canisteo-Greenwood girl’s basketball team from 2009-2014 and served as an assistant to the Red Barons men’s basketball program in the 2014-2015 season.

Coach Wright has over 300 high school basketball wins and over 500 wins in all sports combined, inlcuding six Section V softball titles over a nine-year span from '85-'93. He was named Great Eight Boys Basketball Coach of the Year in 1992, Great Eight Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2011, and Greater Rochester McDonald’s Basketball All-Star Coach in 2002. In his first three seasons at Corning, Wright has led the Red Barons to a 44-31 overall record. He has coached six MSAC All-Conference players, two NJCAA All-Region players, one MSAC Player of the Year and one NJCAA All-American. The Red Barons have received two conference and regional berths and have made one trip to the Region III Final Four since he took over in 2015.

Wright has served on numerous athletic committees including positions as the Steuben County Basketball Chairman (1995-present), Section V Boys Basketball Committee Member (1995-present), and NYSPHSAA Section V Athletic Council (2004-present). He holds a master’s degree in education from Arkansas State University and recently retired from Canisteo-Greenwood Central School District as the High School Principal. He currently resides in Campbell, NY with his wife, Michele.
