SUNY CCC Drop Two Close Contests At Home

The SUNY CCC Women's Basketball lost two very close contests this past weekend against SUNY Adirondack, 47-39, and Hudson Valley, 72-67.

On Saturday, the Red Barons were in a very tight game as they were down one point at half time against SUNY Adirondack, however, in the third quarter they were outscored by 8 points and the Wolves lead grew to 9 points heading into the 4th. In the final stanza, the team mounted a comeback attempt pulling to within one point on a Taylor VanDine 3 pointer with 4 minutes to go. SUNY CCC could not close out the game and ended up falling to the Wolves 47-39. Taylor VanDine led the Red Barons with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists with Gabrielle Randall, Kara Reese, and Shaelyn Berguson chipping in 6 points a piece.

On Sunday, SUNY CCC found themselves down by six points at halftime, they responded with a 22 point third quarter which gave them the lead by five points heading into the 4th. The last quarter was a back and forth contest but in the final two minutes Hudson Valley scored on three straight possessions and the Red Barons were unable to overcome the deficit. The Red Barons had five players score in double digits, Kara Reese and Gabrielle Randall lead the way with 15 points each. Destiny Hammond scored 13 points, Chyna Ames had 12 points, and Taylor VanDine scored 10 points in the close loss.

The Red Barons play again on December 7th at Jamestown CC in Olean, NY before playing on December 8th at home against Erie CC which will close out their first semester schedule.
