Red Barons Survive Cold Shooting, Advance To Quarterfinals

The Red Barons Women's Basketball team had to overcome a cold shooting first half, in order to mount a comeback to defeat Finger Lakes CC, to advance to the Quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region III tournament.

The Red Barons were 2-21 from the field in the first quarter and 8-40 in the first half, SUNY CCC came alive part way through the third quarter when Bre Palmatier hit back to back threes. Taylor Kelly added another in a 9-0 run that allowed them to take a 37-35 lead into the fourth quarter, their first lead of the game. Late in the fourth quarter, Bre Palmatier corralled an offensive rebound and made the put back while getting fouled, she mad the free throw to complete the three point play, stretching the lead to 6 points.  Taylor Kelly followed Palmatier's put back with a long 3 on the next possession to effectively put the game out of reach with a minute left to play.

The #7 seeded Red Barons will travel to #2 Onondaga on Tuesday, February 25 for a regional quarter final game at 5:30.
