Watkins Glen Basketball Standout Taylor Kelly Signs LOI

Watkins Glen basketball standout Taylor Kelly has signed her NJCAA National Letter of Intent to attend Corning Community College in the Fall of 2019 and play basketball for the Red Barons.  The 5'9 shooting guard averaged 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals a game this year in helping her team to a NYS Class C runner-up finish. In addition to this season, Taylor was also instrumental in helping the Senecas to the NYS Class C State Championship as a sophomore.  Her high school coach, Alicia Learn said, "Taylor is versatile and has played both guard and post positions.  She runs the floor well, is quick and can attack the basket.  Taylor is a great team player and play maker."  Some of the recognition that Taylor received this year include:    ESPN Ithaca Athlete of the week, South Large School 1st team all-star, Odessafile Co-MVP Schuyler Winter Athlete, Odessafile Athlete of the week, WETM player of the week, More Than A Game Tournament MVP, Melissa B. Wilson All-Star tournament team, Elite 10 player.

 

Red Barons Head coach Michael Wright said, "I am ecstatic that Taylor has decided to join the Red Baron Women's basketball program.  She is not only a fantastic three point shooter, she also runs the floor and attacks the basket extremely well.  Defensively, she can guard multiple positions.  She understands and has a great feel for the game.  She will have an immediate impact on our team.  She is a hard-working, personable young lady that we are proud to be associated with."   Taylor said she is excited to start her college career with the Red Barons and looking forward to playing at the next level especially with Watkins Glen teammate Hannah Morse who also has committed to playing for the Red Barons next year.
