The Corning Red Barons softball team hosted Jamestown CC on Thursday and earned the sweep of the Jayhawks by scores of 26-1 and 26-1.
In game one, more impressive than the offense, was Emily McCreery. The hurler recorded her 100th strikout of the season on her way to a four-hit, nne strikeout performance. Grace Vondracek was 3 for 3 with six RBI's and a homerun. Faith Rodriguez was 2 for 2 with 4 RIBI's, Grace Talbut 3 for 4, and Emma Loomis and Destiny Hammond went 2 for 3. Hammond also banged in 5 RBI's.
In game two, Vondracek and Loomis both went 4 for 4, Benjamin 3 for 3, and Lexi Wood and Talbut went 4 for 5. Wood, Vondracek, Benjamin and Jodie Burdick all homered. Jayden Hill earend the win in the circle as she threw a two-hitter with 9 strikeouts.
With the sweep, Corning improves to 23-5 overall and 20-0 in Region III. The Red Barons will host Herkimer CC on Sunday for a noon doubleheader.
