Corning Bats Get Hot Over the Weekend Putting Up 49 Runs in 20 Innings

The Red Barons softball team had a great weekend as they went 4-0, improving to 23-5 overall and 19-straight wins with sweeps over Monroe CC and Genesee CC.

Monroe CC - Corning opened up game one by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning enroute to an 8-0 win.  Lexi Wood and Bella Benjamin went 3 for 3 , Gabby Coletta 2 for 2 and Jodie Burdick 2 for 3.  Benjamin smacked a triple and a homerun.  Emily McCreery went five innings allowing two hits and striking out nine.  In game two, Corning broke the game open in a big 6-run 2nd inning on their way to a 13-2 victory.  Kiarah Grover had a huge offensive game as she went 4 for 4, including a triple, with 7 RBI's.  Grace Vondracek was 3 for 4.  Jayden Hill got the game two win in the circle. 

Genesee CC - Corning jumped out strong in the top of the 1st inning scoring 12 runs on their way to a 20-0 win.  Emma Loomis was 5 for 5, Grace Vondracek 4 for 5, Jodie Burdick 3 for 4, Bella Benjamin 3 for 5 (with 2 1st inning HR's), Lexi Wood 3 for 5, and Kiarah Grover and Destiny Hammond went 2 for 4.  Benjamin had 6 RBI's while Wood and Vondracek each had 4 and Destiny Hammond 3.  Emily McCreery threw a no-hitter with 8 strikeouts.  In game two, Wood went 3 for 3 with  3RBI's a double and a triple while Jodie Burdick was 2 for 3.  Jayden Hill threw a two hitter with 9 strikeouts.  

With the weekend sweeps, Corning improves to 23-5 overall, 18-0 in Region III and 10-0 in MSAC Conference play.  Corning host Erie CC Tuesday for a 3pm DH.
