Corning Bats Hot in Sweep of Finger Lakes CC

The Red Barons bats were firing on all cylinders Tuesday as Corning traveled to FLCC for a MSAC Conference and Region III match-up.  In nine innings at the plate, Corning pounded out a total of 35 hits in their sweep by scores of 9-1 and 21-0.

In game one, Corning had 14 hits led by Jodie Burdick (3 for 3 ), Grace Talbut (2 for 3) and Bella Benjamin and Lexi Wood who each went  2 for 4.  Emily McCreery was in control on the mound as she threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts in her five-innings of work.

Game two saw Corning collect 24 hits including doubles by Emma Loomis, Grace Vondracek, Wood and Kiki Grover, a triple by Benjamin and a homerun for Vondracek.  Grover went 4 for 4 with 3 RBI's, Wood was 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs, Loomis 3 for 4, Vondracek 3 for 5 with 4 RBI's, Benjamin 2 for 4 and Faith Rodriguez 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.  Destiny Hammond added 2 RBI's.  Jayden Hill allowed 4 hits in 5 innings and struck out eight.  

With the sweep, the Red Barons improve to 13-5 overall and 8-0 in Region III play.   Corning will host the Hornets from SUNY Broome Community College on Thursday for a Region III and MSAC Conference DH.  First pitch is at 3pm.
