Softball Sweeps Monroe; Hill Collects 100th Strikeout

The SUNY CCC softball team travelled to Rochester, New York Saturday afternoon and swept the Monroe Tribunes by scores of 7-1 and 17-0.

In game one, it took three-innings before the Red Barons could get on the board after MCC jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning.  Inning five gave Corning the lead for good as they crossed the plate three times, once more in the sixth and added two more runs in the seventh.  Jill Murray was 2 for 3 and Kiarah Grover added two hits for the Barons offense.  Grace Vondracek, Katie Kersch, Christina Willsey and Siobhan Stone all had RBI's.  Emily McCreery earned her 11th win in the circle as she scattered 4 hits over seven innings and struck out 9.

In game two, Corning scored in all four innings putting 2 on the board in the 1st, 7 in the 2nd, 5 in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th.  Vondracek was 4 for 4, Lexi Wood 2 for 2, Murray 3 for 4 and Kersch 2 for 4.  Jodie Burdick and Kersch knocked in 3 runs while Wood and Hailey Burdick collected 2 RBI's each.  Jayden Hill threw a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts.  Hill's 8th strikeout marked her 100th strikeout on the season.  

The Red Barons improve to 22-0 on the season.  Corning will host Monroe CC on Sunday.  The doubleheder starts at noon.
