Pitching Dominates in Softball Sweep

The Corning duo of Emily McCreery and Jayden Hill were nearly untouchable Saturday afternoon as the Red Barons hosted and swept Finger Lakes CC by scores of 5-0 and 10-0.  McCreery threw a one-hit gem in game one and Hill followed with a perfect game in the nightcap.

McCreery struck out eight and walked one in seven-innings of work.  The only hit she allowed was a double in the 7th inning.  Jill Murray led off the game with a deep solo shot over the centerfiled fence to give the Red Barons the only run they would need in the game.  Murray finished 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's.  McCreery helped her own cause by going 2 for 3.  Faith Rodriguez and Kiki Grover each picked up an RBI.

In game two, Jayden Hill threw a five-inning perfect game with eight strikeouts.  Jodie Burdick and Lexi Wood each went 2 for 3 with Wood leading the way with 4 RBI's.  Hailey Burdick and Grover each doubled.  Katie Kersch added an RBI along with J. Burdick, H. Burdick and Grover.

The Red Barons improve to 6-0 on the season and travel to Canandaigua Sunday for the second doubleheader with the Lakers.
