Red Barons Sweep TC3

Corning traveled to Tompkins Cortland CC on Thursday, earning a 20-0 and 23-1 MSAC and Region III sweep of the Panthers.  In game one, Jessica Vidal-DeJesus had a career day at the plate.  The freshman thirdbaseman went 5 for 5 with 2 doubles, 2 homeruns and 10 RBI's in the opener.  Kathleen Johnson was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's, Laura Tryon 2 for 2, Leigha Jones 2 for 2, Danielle Dille 3 for 4 and Michele DiNicola 3 for 5.  In the circle, Laura Burrell allowed one hit  and struck out five in three innings of work while Dille closed and didn't allow a hit in the final six outs of the game. 

Game two saw the Corning bats continue to be hot as Corning hit 6 doubles and a grand slam.  It was Johnson who claimed the grand slam, her first collegiate HR, on her way to a 3 for 4 performance.  Rhilea Chabot was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's, Ryleigh Hancock was 2 for 2, Alexa Hayes was  2 for 3 with 2 RBI's, and Vidal-DeJesus was 2 for 3, finishing the day going 7 for 8 with 12 RBI's.  Chabot earned the win allowing 2 hits while Michele DiNicola gave up one hit and struck out one in one inning of work.
