Mansfield HS's Mackenzie Heater Signs with Red Barons Softball

Mansfield High School's Mackenzie Heater has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career by attending Corning Community College in the Fall of 2019.  Heater signed her National Letter of Intent on March 20 during a ceremony at Mansfield Jr./Sr. High School.  Heater, a true utility player, hit .309 her junior year for the Tigers with 17 RBI's and 2 homeruns.  "I'm excited to have Mackenzie join the Red Barons", said Head Coach Stacy Johnson.  "She has a passion for the game of softball and is a very hard worker.  She has displayed that she is willing to learn and put in the work to elevate her game.  Those are the types of players I want to surround myself with."  Mackenzie stated that she felt comfortable at Corning and her decision was an easy one. "I chose Corning partially because it's close to home and as soon as I went to campus I knew it was where I wanted to be. It felt like a second home to me already and I can't wait to continue playing the sport I love.  I am looking forward to getting close with my teammates and creating a family bond with them instead of just being friends.  I get the family feel from the softball team and am excited to be a part of that family."
