Byron-Bergen Softball Star Velasco Signs with Red Barons

Byron-Bergen softball star Becca Velasco has signed her NJCAA National Letter of Intent to attend Corning Community College in the Fall of 2019 and play softball for the Red Barons.  Velasco hit .408 for the Bees in her junior season with a .708 slugging percentage.  She belted 4 triples and collected 15 RBI's.  She is a two-time selection to the Genesee Region honorable mention team for her scholastic efforts on the diamond.  The thirdbaseman plays travel ball for the highly competitive Rochester Lady Lions organization, where this past fall she had a .341 on-base percentage and was a defensive anchor for the team.

Corning head coach Stacy Johnson had this to say about the signing of Velasco, "I'm very excited to have Becca chose Corning.  I believe she is a great fit here and exactly the type of player I'm looking to bring into this program.  She is a competitor, gritty and her athleticism allows her to play various positions on the field.  Becca is a very welcome addition to the Red Barons softball family."  "I felt comfortable from my first visit to campus and just knew it was the right fit.  I'm looking forward to being a Red Baron, playing softball and continuing my education at CCC. I made the right decision and can't wait to get started there", stated Velasco.
