Personal Bests For Both Allington and James In Rochester

The Red Baron's cross country team took a trip to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, September 23rd for the Harry F. Anderson Invitational.  The field consisted of many DIII programs, as well as some junior colleges, which also included some MSAC competitors such as Finger Lakes CC, Tompkins Cortland CC, and Jefferson CC.

A foggy/cloudy morning gave way to a beautiful late morning start on the 8k course at Roberts Wesleyan. The mostly flat course consisted of open terrain that lead to a looping trail. Both Hayden Allington and Dylan James ran a very consistent and methodical race which lead to a strong finish. Allington finished 59th out of 175 runners and ran a personal best of 27:55. James finished 166th out of 175 runners and also ran a personal best of 36:02.

Allington topped his goal of breaking 28 minutes for the season on only the second 8k of the year. Allington beat his personal best time by approximately 20 seconds. James also beat his personal best by approximately 16 seconds. Coach Casey Swartz was thrilled with the outcome of the meet. "The wheels are starting to turn, everything's falling into place. I'm hopeful this is just the beginning and we will continue to perform well once the championship part of the season arrives in mid-October."

The CCC Red Baron's XC team will travel to Fredonia next week for the Kara Hall Memorial Invitational on September 30, 2023.
