Men's Soccer Shuts Out Jamestown And Jefferson

The men's soccer team has seen a lot of positive results as of late as they defeated both Jamestown CC and Jefferson CC in a week's span helping bolster their 3-1 home record on the year.

The Red Barons won a defensive battle against Jamestown as they scored the lone goal of the game in the first half while holding off a charging Jayhawks team who had opportunties including a shot off the bar in the final minutes of the game. Zacharia Carey set-up Dawson Smith who slotted home the shot into the side net for what would turn out to be the game winner mid-way through the first half. The defensive back four and controlling mid-fielders for Corning played strong in front of Tyler Morehouse who had some outstanding saves himself to keep the clean sheet alive and preserve the Red Baron victory.

Against Mid-State Athletic Conference rival Jefferson Community College, the Corning defense was solid once again as they prevailed in another shut out victory by the score of 3-0. Dawson Smith notched his first collegiate goal in the 67th minute from Gage Grottenthaler while Connor Nazarczyk played Matt Kays over the top for his first goal of the game in the 82nd minute. Near the end of the 90 minutes, Dawson Smith was then taken down in the box for a penalty shot, which led to sophomore captain Paul Milliken scoring from the spot for his first ever goal for the Red Barons.
