CCC Records 1st Win Of Season

CCC Records 1st Win Of Season
The Corning Community College Men's Basketball team got their first win of the season over the weekend with a 77-70 victory of Jefferson Community College on Wayne Kenner court.

Sha'Mere Freeman once again led the Corning Community College Men's Basketball team in scoring with 21 points, but it would be sophomore forward, Marcus Reed, who had the greatest impact for the Red Baron's to help secure their first win of the season. The versatile forward finished with 9 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 steals, and 1 assist to go along with 12 points off 1-2 total field goal attempts from the field.

In addition to Freeman and Reed's efforts, freshman forward Antuan Darden, had his best game of young career with 11 points, to go along with 6 rebounds. Sophomore reserve, Fredo Sanchez, also contributed with 11 points, including a dagger three-point field goal with just under two minutes left in regulation - in which he also was fouled.

The Red Baron's defense was stingy in the first half, holding Jefferson to just 24 first half points. However, there was no quit in Jefferson, as the road team battled back to cut the deficit to two points late in the second half. Jefferson had a couple chances to tie or take the lead, but the Red Baron's ultimately proved to be too much as the aforementioned Fredo Sanchez drilled a three pointer with just under two minutes to play, that pushed the lead up to seven, and the Red Baron's never looked back.

The Corning Community College Men's Basketball team is back in action this Thursday when they travel to TC3 to take on the Panthers on their home court.
