SUNY CCC Win MSAC Contest On The Road

The SUNY CCC Men's Basketball team traveled to Watertown, NY taking on Jefferson where they won 73-63.

The Red Barons jumped out to a 17-5 lead and went into halftime up 20 points, 37-17, due in large part to their perimeter shooting as the team sunk 8 threes in the first 20 minutes of the game. The Canoneers played all zone in the first half and the Red Barons made them pay with 4 players (Xavier Hill 3, Dwight Reed 2, Papa Ba 2, and Cameron Rhode 1) making 3 point baskets in the first half.

Jefferson switched to a man to man defense and shot the ball better in the second half which tested the Red Barons composure. The Red Barons held onto a 5 point lead before JCC was called for a technical foul after a shooting foul. Samir Lockhart sunk all four free throws and the team never looked back. SUNY CCC put pressure on the Cannoneer defense in the second half with strong drives and either scored off the bounce or drew a foul on the way to the basket. Keianu Woodard was a perfect 6-6 in the last two minutes of the game from the line as the Red Barons went 19-24 from the charity stripe in the second half.
