The Red Barons Men's Basketball team opened up their season with a 79-74 win at D2 Erie CC in a back and forth contest.
SUNY CCC started the game on a 7-0 run before Erie responded with 7 straight points to tie the game. The rest of the first half consisted of small scoring runs by both teams with no team getting up or down by more than six points. The Red Barons went into half time down four points to the Kats.
In the second half, Erie jumped out to a 9 point lead after the first five minutes of play before Dwight Reed tied the game at 55 points with a free throw with 10 minutes to go. Freshman Papa Ba went on a 10 point scoring spree for the Red Barons with two made dunks and hitting two three pointer all in a three minute stretch giving his team a 66-57 advantage.
The Red Barons would hold onto the lead for the rest of the game with Keianu Woodard making two free throws to put SUNY CCC up 5 points with 9 seconds remaining.

- Papa Ba scored 17 points with three 3 pointers
- Xavier Hill had 9 points, 6 boards, and 5 assists
