Red Barons Defeat FLCC & Jefferson

The Red Barons Men's Basketball team defeated FLCC at home and Jefferson on the road to improve to 2-1 in MSAC play.

Against Finger Lakes, the Red Barons shot 50% from the floor and defeated the Lakers by a score of 76-64. The game was tied at 63 apiece in the final four minutes before Corning held FLCC to just one point the rest of the game. Freshman Xavier Hill and Sophomore Andre Starks led the way offensively scoring 19 and 18 points, Hill also collected 10 rebounds, finishing with his first double-double of the season.

On the road against Jefferson, Corning was in a tight contest that saw multiple lead changes in the second half. With the game tied at 68 points and under a minute to play Xavier Hill scored a contested lay-up to put the Red Barons up by 2. Corning was able to get a stop on defense before Damont Hanton secured an offensive rebound and was fouled making 1-2 FT's which pushed the lead to three points with ten seconds remaining. Corning was able to escape with a victory after Jefferson missed two three pointers to tie the game. Xavier Hill again led the Red Barons with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Markel Jenkins and Josh Green both scored 10 points helping the team to back to back victories.
