Men start MSAC play 1-1

The Corning CC men opened conference play with a 63-61 loss at Cayuga CC on Thursday, 1/11/18. After being down 14 with 1:30 left in the first half, the Red Barons went on a 7-0 run to go into halftime down 38-31. Cayuga came out strong in the second half, again building a 14 point lead with just over 10 minutes to go in the game. Corning came back strong and had two open looks in the last 15 seconds that did not fall, as they eventually lost by two. Corning CC dominated the boards all night with 44 total rebounds and had four players scoring in double-digits.

The Red Barons bounced back strong with an impressive win over Onondaga CC on Sunday, 1/14/18. After Corning CC built a 41-21 halftime lead, the Lazers fought back and took the lead 65-64 with under thirty seconds left in the game. Christian Simmons played hero, as he scored the game-winning lay-up with 2 seconds to go. Onondaga's half court heave came up just short as the Red Barons took the game 66-65 in regulation. Simmons finished with a game-high 20 points, James Clarke flirted with a triple-double logging 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in his first career start. RaeQuan Scott poured in 15 points, including 4 three pointer's, Tamar Jackson grabbed 13 rebounds in the winning cause . The men square-off three more times this week starting with Thompkins-Cortland CC at home, Tuesday, 1/16/18.
