Johnson Named Twin Tiers Coach of the Year

Corning Community College softball coach, and Director of Athletics, Stacy Johnson was honored on June 29 at the 18 NEWS Twin Tiers Sports Night hosted at Horseheads High School.  Johnson was voted the 2016-17 Twin Tiers Coach of the Year.  Winners were voted on by the community through a month-long online poll.

This season, Johnson led the CCC softball team to its second-straight NJCAA Region III Finals appearance and along the way, earned her 500th career victory in her 20th season as the Red Barons skipper.  Six of her players were named to the All-MSAC Conference team, four were named to the NJCAA All-Region team and two players were named NJCAA All-Americans.  Johnson ended the season with 503 wins, 8 wins shy of longtime men's basketball coach Wayne Kenner, who currently is the winningest coach in CCC history.
